Hunts 2008
April 18th 2008

Me and my good friend Mike Miller  Shot a Double on this fine pair of Jakes during Wisconsin's first season.  We called in about 11 Jakes all at once.  Now that is a rowdy crowd.  The birds seamed to really like the long box this year.  That is Foggy Holler Long Box, Prototype # 02.  So far this has been one of the worst springs I can remember here in WI.  The weather has been lousy, Cold and wet all the time, and even worse the wind has been a big problem.  Perfect Long Box conditions.  I have two tags left to fill during Wisconsin's last season which I hope will be good with this late spring.    Note The light colored Tail feathers on my bird.   Second bird I have killed around here with light colored tail feathers.

What an amazing hunt! I was in the woods set up with my new bi-moble decoy accompanied by a hen at 5:00 am, not to forget I had my new Foggy Holler custom made box call in my bag of tricks.  Every thing was perfect.  I waited and then a short while later the toms started gobbling all around me, except they were not where I was at.  Everywhere the turkeys were there was a ditch, draw or a fence between me and them.  Needless to say, after trying to call and gobble a tom in to no avail I asked my self, "what would Bucky do".  this my wife’s uncle who got me in to turkey hunting.  I knew what he would do, If they could not make it to him, he would sneak closer to them.  That is precisely what I did.  I crossed a fence and went through a draw to get as close as I could to a tom that was a ways away.  At 7:30 I was set up and reached for my Foggy Holler custom made box call and gave a purr followed by a quiet yelp.  GOBBLE GOBBLE came from just down the ridge.  It was great.  The custom call was so easy to use and as my buddies had commented, it was so easy to use to make the best sounding turkey call a  hunter would want!  I continued to cluck and purr with some yelping and BOOM! he gobbled again, closing the distance.  I knew he was coming.  I softened my yelp even more and wham!  he was coming in on a string.  To make a long story short, I KOed him at full strut right at 20 yards.  Due to the weeds and position I never was able to see how my bi-mobile worked for the BIG  tom could not see it.   He came solely to my foggy holler custom made box call.
Thank you Jerry for making such a fine call for an old friend.  This is by far the best call I have ever owned or will own for that matter.  I could have saved allot of money if I would have bought a call from you instead of investing in the hype of other manufactures that sound more like sick birds.

Thanks again!

Bruce and his buddy both filled their 4th season tags on Friday May 2nd 2008.  What a dandy pair of Iowa Gobblers.
Hey where is the Box call Guys?
Friday a friend from work and I took the day off to hunt.  We were in a blind on a field edge by 4:45am and set.  Then the rain and lightning set in....
If we had not have taken off work we would have left, for it was nasty to say the least.  Several times we commented this is stupid for being out here in this weather but both agreed it beat work.
For over the next two hours it was miserable even in a blind.  It finally quit a short time after 7.  Then the turks started hitting the fields.  Two toms with several hens came out.  The term, 'hened up’ was an understatement.  After trying to persuade the hens our way to bring the boys with them did not work, (two hours later) my buddy belly crawled a 100 yds with in range and smashed an 18 pounder with two beards and 1' spurs!
So off we went to another farm to try to fill my tag.  The land owners boy wanted to go with so he met up with us.  The three of us walked 3/4 of a mile back in and got set up on a knob I have dreamed about turkey hunting on.   We set the decoys up in the middle of a cross roads going trough the brush.  It was terrible windy. My buddy and the kid with us set up on one corner and I set up on the other.  My friend said soon as I hit the Foggy Holler custom box a gobble roared just down the ridge.  I could not hear it over the wind.  I could hardly hear the call when they did for that matter.   After some modest calling the Boss ended up strutting 6 yds from the decoys where I put the smack down on the second great bird this year!
22 pounds, 10 3/4' beard right at 1' spurs.  We were both tagged out for 4th season before noon on what seemed like the worst day of hunting possible.

Here is Paul Klima from NY State and this May 1st Gobbler.  Paul and Chuck Tiranno worked this gobbler in with their Foggy Holler Box calls.
The Foggy Holler calls were deadly in New York State this year. Here is another pair of dandy Gobblers called in with the Foggy Holler Box Call.   Terry Day and his friend took this fine pair on May 1st of 2008.  Two different hunts, one Bloodwood and Blackwalnut short box.  I love thease Pictures!
